I just finished a video walkthrough for the 2001 GBA version of Nancy Drew: Message in a Haunted Mansion. It's just like the PC version with toned-down graphics, as little animation as possible, and almost no voice acting besides a three second sound clip.
If Nancy Drew isn't your cup of tea, you might want to check out my Phoenix Wright walkthrough page on IGN FAQs. It's pretty fancy-looking, and provides easy access to all the videos at once. However, if you're looking for the full-sized videos, the GameCola YouTube page is still the only place where you can find them.
Both of you who read the "What Games Are Coming Out This Week" posts on this blog will have noticed that Nancy Drew: Warnings at Waverly Academy came out on Tuesday of last week.
Well, after a lot of work, I have now finished my video walkthrough for that game. All those who are interested, feel free to check it out.
The plot of this game bears an odd resemblance to Drama Queens for the DS at some points. One girl steals another girl's boyfriend, there is BFF drama, and the final puzzle of the game is based off Edgar Allen Poe's The Pit and the Pendulum. That happened in Drama Queens, right?
There's a trailer for the new Nancy Drew game out. Apparently, we are going to see George in this game, which is fancy because you could only call her in the previous games.
Also in Nancy Drew news, Nancy made #17 on EW's list of coolest pop-culture heroes. #18? Batman (who came up with this list?). Beating both of them were 1938's Robin Hood and ten people I've never heard of. James Bond gets the #1 slot for inventing the action-adventure genre. Dang. Must be niiice to get credit for something you didn't do.
But in any case, Mr. Bond gets 1,000 awesome points for his "worst line ever": ''That's as bad as listening to the Beatles without earmuffs.'' It makes me almost want to watch one of his movies someday.
Hey, hey, hey! I just finished a video walkthrough for Nancy Drew: Secret of the Scarlet Hand! That's the last of them! Now I've officially made a video walkthrough for every single Nancy Drew game.
This seems like a good time to take Meteo X's advice and go on break for month. See you in May, everyone!
Heads up, everyone! I finished a walkthrough for Nancy Drew: Danger by Design. The highlight of the walkthrough is my spot-on impersonation of Prudence Rutherford:
Prudence talks at around 0:20, and I imitate her at 2:34. I'm a little worried now, because I forgot how to do the voice already, and now everyone will want me to do that voice again when I play Secret of the Scarlet Hand (in which Prudence Rutherford appears).
I've finished a video walkthrough for Nancy Drew: Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon. That's one of the more outstanding games of the series, due to the fact that it contains the Hardy Boys as characters, and because the graphics team got a major budget increase.
Those of you who don't like Nancy Drew should check out the deaths video for the game:
Happy Early Valentine's Day, everyone! While I know that some members of the Gamecola staff will be spending Valentine's Day with their loved ones (or, in the case of a certain staff member, trying to impress her with a Pikachu-shaped box of Pokemon cards and ending up sleeping on the new couch that he was busy moving into the house yesterday), but some others may be spending the day without their significant other.
Which is A-OK! Because I've got something even better than eating lots of chocolate! It's a video walkthrough for Nancy Drew: Curse of Blackmoor Manor! Watch as Nancy goes to England and solves a mystery (like she does in every Nancy Drew game)! It's loads more fun than celebrating a crappy holiday thought up by Hallmark, right? Right!
I've got a video walkthrough of Nancy Drew: Secret of Shadow Ranch available. Here's the Deaths Video for that game, although it's nothing too exciting--most of the deaths are Nancy being fired.
Also, I finally put the Pajama Sam Sock Musical Song on Youtube. I don't know what took me so long.
Next time on the Gamecola, I'll have some surprise Zelda videos! You won't want to miss it!
Hot off the presses! Here's a preview of what you'll find in the upcoming Janish--a review of Nancy Drew: White Wolf of Icicle Creek for the Wii.
That's right, I have the equipment to get footage of Wii games. Actually, I can get footage from any system that outputs in those yellow/white/red cables. I need to do something with my NES or N64 someday.
Unemployment has served me well, in that it's given me the free time to make a video walkthrough for Nancy Drew: The Final Scene. That's a game where Nancy's friend Maya (who doesn't show up in any other games, by the way) is kidnapped, and Nancy has three days to find her before she gets killed.
For those of you who aren't big Nancy Drew fans, you might want to check out this supplemental video I made of the various ways you can die in the game. Some of them are rather intense, and the video was so well-received that I think I'll make one for all the Nancy Drew games I play from now on.
Once again, I have made a Nancy Drew walkthrough, this time for the fourth game in the series: Nancy Drew: Treasure in the Royal Tower. I would like to thank my late-night insomnia for making this possible--these guides go quickly when I spend the 11:00-12:00 hour working on them every night.
Next up is Nancy Drew: The Final Scene. The new Prince of Persia game should be out by the time that's done, so I'll finally get to take a break and play non-Nancy Drew games for once. Nancy is awesome, but too much of a good thing, you know?
My latest video guide for Nancy Drew: Message in a Haunted Mansion is complete. Watch and be amazed at the old school graphics! Remember why you're glad they updated the controls system! Wonder why the final death scene has the bad guy skipping away!
And the shout out from Barack Obama? I made that up. Seriously people, you'd think it was obvious I was joking.
I've just finished making a video walkthrough for Nancy Drew: The Haunting of Castle Malloy, a game where Nancy goes to Ireland and solves a mystery. Along the way, she does a bunch of stuff like shear sheep, mix drinks, play a drum version of Guitar Hero, and use a jetpack to help find a crazy bum who lives in the middle of a bog.
Now all I have to do is use the videos to write a text walkthrough, and submit that to GameFAQS. But nobody tell Paul, all right? Otherwise he might not buy my excuse that I can't write a Ten Reasons about the game this month. So don't let him know I've got access to all the game's screenshots and that I have the game fresh in my mind.
Hey everyone! I just got finished making a video walkthrough for Nancy Drew: Danger on Deception Island, because six people asked me to do it. Gosh, those Nancy Drew fans can get pushy sometimes.
Here's a funny part of the game for all of you non-Nancy Drew fans to enjoy. It's at 5:55 to 6:16 in this video, where Nancy is talking with the Hardy Boys, and Joe Hardy unleashes an awesome insult on his brother. Enjoy!
Hey, everyone! My latest video guide for Nancy Drew: Secret of the Old Clock is availabe on Youtube and Pwnordie! One of my random fans requested I do this game, so I did it.
Boy, was that ever a dumb idea. This game pretty much sucks. It's a lot of running around as a delivery boy, and minigames that are way too hard. Hard as in it takes ten times (or more) of replaying the minigames before you can beat them.
I feel like writing a review of this game next month, just so I can trash it.
The record for "worst part of the game" goes to the golfing minigame, which took over a half-hour to beat. See parts 6, 7, 8 and 9 and laugh at my pathetic golfing skills, if you want.
