GameCola correspondent Becca Clipper was on the scene in Medford, NJ earlier today to witness the afore-announced Nintendo-sponsored "celestial event." As you might have already guessed, the once mysterious occurrence turned out to be Nintendo employees flinging magically-produced Kirby-shaped foam creations into the early morning sky.

Please enjoy the following photos and video of this special event. Special because, hey, who's ever seen Kirby floating in the sky for reals? And special because it's incredibly unlikely that a major videogame company will ever come this close to my hometown ever again.

No, seriously. My hometown is so far out of the way that the nearest mall is 45 minutes away. Nothing this interesting will ever happen there again.

I know we used to have a large contingent of South Jersey readers Back in the Day, and maybe some of you still check us out. If you do, this one's for you.

Via Kotaku (and my friend Becca), Nintendo appears to be preparing a launch event for Kirby Super Star Ultra tomorrow in, among other places, Medford, just minutes away from my hometown of Tabernacle in Burlington County. (And, believe me, there are very, very few things that are "just minutes" away from Tabernacle.) The details follow. If anyone plans on attending and wants to give us the scoop on what happened, e-mail me at pfranzen@gamecola.net. Pictures would also be appreciated!
